The time a caller is kept on hold is often filled with professionally produced music or spoken advertising. The producers of on hold systems claim that they entertain and increase the willingness of callers to wait. Nevertheless, there are statistics that show that almost 50 percent of callers put the phone down if they are put on hold. A telephone service whereby the call is answered by a member of staff as in business centers is the safer option.
