paper clip
In July 2006, a Canadian, Kyle MacDonald made internet history and proved that a paper clip has hitherto undiscovered value. On July 12, 2005, he set himself the target of turning a red paper clip into a house by means of internet barter and, 12 months and 14 exchanges later, he succeeded.
Initially, he bartered the paper clip for a pen in the form of a fish and continued the experiment, accompanied by growing publicity, through a door knob, a truck and a snow globe (with collector value) until he owned a role in a Hollywood film. Shortly before the deadline, the mayor of a small Canadian town called him and offered him a house against the film role.
