Pictures and sound are communicated between two or more locations in real time. Video conference technology consists of a camera and microphone to record plus a screen and loudspeakers to receive. Classical group video conferences take place in a conference room equipped as above. The quality of picture and sound is excellent but the initial and operating costs are high. The alternative is a web conference with the additional functions of picture and sound communication. The quality is lower but so are the costs. An additional advantage is that participants do not need to be in a location with video conference facilities.
